windmill power15 Could plants be genetically altered to generate electricity?
Zefram asked:

Plants gather sunlight and use it for energy. Could plants be genetically altered to create electricity? The grass in parks, lawns, etc could be hooked into the electrical grid. This would be less expensive than solar panels and windmills and wouldn’t mess up the view. Each house could be powered by its own lawn. Anything left over could be sold to the electric company
