You were misinformed. You can make a solar heater out of a copper mirror, and warm water, but not a solar voltaic cell to generate electricity, which requires a complicated manufacturing process.

There’s nothing in Copper except its molecules.
These are ‘tightly’ packed together giving the conduction of heat (and electricity), a very easy ‘Pathway’ for them to pass.
Conduction of heat is by the ‘Collision’ of molecules within a solid substance. The closer the molecules are packed, the easier the heat transfer takes place throughout the metal.
