2012 or whatever–meaning solar storms knocking out power, computer networks–doesn’t sound too grim…
…but I’m in some of the colder states in America so, it makes being steadfast about a trek to Mexico or Cali sound that much sweeter (assuming that the Dragon will breathe us much needed ‘heat’ in those parts (Cali or by West Coast central American ports) if it were to ever happen suddenly!
I guess the time is always right to maintain optimism in the net work!

Learn C++ or Java as a start if you wanna spearhead rebooting the net work after a crash!
As far as surviving those months or years following a Solar storm that would knock out our grid, learning mandarin might help too…
…that is a social construction near impossible for us Western speakers to break through (a lot of the thousands of characters had been dictated by powerful Chinese rulers and alot of the language is up to interpretation…hope to be able to read ALL OF THE SIGNS well!)
